Journey to the Bowels of the Earth...

'Jikan: Cave of Death' finds the demon-hunting samurai hurled back to the dawn of time and captured by a tribe of demon-possessed apemen. Taken deep below the Earth through a vast network of catacombs, Jikan discovers he is to be offered as a sacrifice to appease the fire breathing monster that dwells within the 'Cave of Death'. My offering: 8 pages of devil-splitting, caveman-hacking, gore-soaked fury. 'Jikan: Cave of Death' features art by James Corcoran and will appear in an upcoming issue of Paragon Comics.

In addition to 'Cave of Death', I've written a pair of Jikan scripts for Paragon: 'Jikan: Witch Fires' (more on that here and on the blog of artist Filip Roncone) and 'Jikan and the Kappa King', a newspaper-style strip (which can be followed weekly here).

King of the Kappas...

Poor Jikan. After countless centuries of traveling time and space and countless demons slain in the name of Good, he has finally arrived at his homeland of Japan in the right place and time – and wants nothing more than to lay his head on a pillow and take a nap.

But this day, it is not meant to be.

Find out why in ‘Jikan and the Kappa King’, a light-hearted fairytale presented in a weekly comic strip format (art by Davey Candlish and letters by Jim Campbell) which can be found every Monday on the Paragon Blogspot. Above are all twenty-six episodes and a series advert.

Jikan features in Paragon Comics and (coming later this year) a graphic novel collection. In addition to ‘Kappa King’, I’ve written a pair of Jikan scripts for Paragon, ‘Jikan: Witch Fires’ and ‘Jikan: Cave of Death’.

Hither Came Jikan...

Exciting news: I've written a pair of scripts for Paragon Comics, both featuring Jikan, an inter-dimensional demon-hunting Ronin cursed to wander time and space destroying evil.

'Jikan: Witch Fires' has our hero flung from the vortex and into a small English town terrorized by the sadistic Matthew Hopkins, Witchfinder General and Demon-in-Disguise. 'Witch Fires' is essentially an epic 8-page sword fight which kicks into gear on the rooftop of a burning inn and climaxes amidst the swaying corpses decorating a gallows platform.

'Jikan: Cave of Death' finds Jikan hurled back to the dawn of time and captured by a tribe of demon-possessed apemen.

I'm not sure when the finished strips will appear in Paragon, so for now enjoy the above teaser rendered by Dave Candlish, editor/creator of Paragon Comics.
